Melanie K. RodbartPE, M.ASCE, LEED GA

Melanie Rodbart brings over fifteen years of experience as an engineer and has managed dozens of projects involving the structural analysis and stabilization of existing buildings, many of which are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Melanie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University and her Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University.

As a founding principal of J&M Preservation Studio, the successor firm of S. Harris Ltd., Melanie is experienced in the structural analysis of timber, steel, concrete, and masonry and evaluates the technical complexities of failure mechanisms. She has conducted numerous conditions assessments on aging buildings and is a certified Conservation Assessment Program (CAP) Assessor.

Melanie has been commended for her ability to turn around repair details, construction documents, and other project deliverables in an extraordinarily timely manner. She is known to establish trust with clients and communicate effectively with building owners, architects, conservators, and contractors.

Several of Melanie’s projects have received awards from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley Association of Structural Engineers. Melanie enjoys collaborating with a team of professionals to identify solutions to complex old building problems.

Melanie serves on the Board of the Delaware Valley Association of Structural Engineers (DVASE) and is a Past-President. In 2018, she created the DVASE Young Member Group (YMG) and Women in Structural Engineering (WiSE) Committee. Melanie is currently the Chair of DVASE WiSE. Melanie served on the Board of Director’s for the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia (PAGP) from 2012-2015 and continues to participate with the Easement Committee.
